EDUCATION AS REMATRIATION
THE INOSAAR GAP
@ OXFORD
INOSAAR GAP @ OXFORD is working to bridge working-class communities with Afro-Caribbean (Afrikan heritage) students in Oxford through extra-mural education action-learning. Our goal is to create a decolonial centre for knowledge production and dissemination in the heart of the city; fostering an outpost where Pan-Afrikanism thrives in the heart of empire.

About Us
Our Story
How many Afrikan Oxford students have passed through the city without knowing that just beyond the centre, in Cowley and Blackburn Lees, there are vibrant communities of Afrikans? How many more without knowing of the Afrikan Giants that have studied in Oxford and gone on to build the movement. The INOSAAR - Glocal Academy Posuban, Oxford hopes to bridge this gap, creating a space in which students who will not encounter material in their university syllabus that pertains to their own continent, to the history of their peoples, can come and mix with locals for alternative forms of knowledge creation. Film nights, lectures, debates, tutorials. One of the hearts of this initiative is the Nsromma Black Star boat, a Pan-Afrikan rematriation home within the heart of empire.
Programmes of Work
Nsromma Black Star
Our houseboat community hub is a unique opportunity for working-class Afrikan communities and Afro-Caribbean students to come together and learn from each other. The houseboat serves as a hub for educational activities, artistic productions, and community events. Summer afternoons on the roof by the river can be wonderful. Join us on the houseboat and be part of this exciting project.
Educational Resources
Oxford is supposed to be a city of education, a city of knowledge production, and at the INOSAAR GAP Oxford we take knowledge production seriously, not only fostering discussion and suggesting texts and educational materials, but also encouraging members to be organic intellectual knowledge producers, co-producing resources relevant to, with and for the Community.
Community Events
We organize regular community events that bring together working-class African communities and Afro-Caribbean students. Our events include workshops, lectures, film screenings, and artistic productions. We believe that cultural exchange and dialogue are essential for creating a more inclusive and just society. Join us for our next event and be part of our community.
